Biography

Venus Ebony Starr Williams (born June 17, 1980, in Lynwood, California) is an American tennis player. During her professional career, Venus Williams won 49 singles titles—including seven Grand Slam tournaments—as well as the gold medal at the 2000 Olympic Games. In doubles, she has claimed 24 tournament victories alongside her sister Serena to date, 14 of which were at Grand Slam tournaments and three at the Olympic Games (2000, 2008, and 2012). She won two additional Grand Slam titles in mixed doubles, partnering with Justin Gimelstob (both in 1998).
